Neurodiver main characters ES88 (left) and GATE (right) Image: MidBoss We asked game developers and creative teams about the process of creating future worlds. Video games have to be built in ever-changing technology, and yet science fiction games about the future manage to encompass all of these themes, imaging worlds across the spectrum. It’s not always about flying cars and cybernetically enhanced bodies, but, of course, that’s cool, too. ![]() That’s what makes designing the future so hard the definition is always changing. Other times, these worlds are set so far in the future that they’re nearly unrecognizable. ![]() Sometimes these are near-future worlds, ones that are only slightly off from our own. Science fiction is a study of future worlds. Follow along as we deep dive into the great unknown. overall the game is to emotionally intense and violent for kids under 15 but is a really good game. What does the future hold? In our new series “Imagining the Next Future,” Polygon explores the new era of science fiction - in movies, books, TV, games, and beyond - to see how storytellers and innovators are imagining the next 10, 20, 50, or 100 years during a moment of extreme uncertainty. Scary Scene 10/10: the infected enemies are zombie-like creatures with mushrooms growing on their heads the Bloater infected is a huge spore-covered enemy that chokes out the player and releases a toxic gas, jumpscares happen often and scare people easily. Language 7/10: fuck, shit, ass, damn, god damn, Jesus Christ, bitch, whore, and some mild sexual terms are heard throughout. Drug and Drinking 1/10: Characters drink alcohol sometimes but it's rare. Sex and Nudity 3/10: Ellie makes a comment on a male nude magazine saying "how does he walk around with that thing", and "ew these pages are stuck together", she's just joking though. Violence 10/10: When shot enemies will scream as bullets pierce them leaving holes in their heads or other body parts as blood sprays once dead blood pools around them on the floor, when using shotguns heads and other limbs will be obliterated leaving only parts of them left, you use melee weapons to beat, slam, and slash through enemies causing blood spraying and leaving bloody wounds, and using explosives cause enemies to explode into blood and bits. The Last of Us is a masterpiece of epic proportions, you play as Joel Miller a survivor in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, who lost his daughter during the start of the apocalypse and is living on his own in a quarantine zone when he is tasked by the leader of a rebel group called the Fireflies to transport a 14-year-old girl named Ellie who is immune to the infection to a hospital safe zone all the way across the U.S., you will use a verity of firearms, melee weapons, and explosives to kill human and infected enemies. ![]() otherwise from the gay reference this game is one of the best PlayStation has to offer. The message I got from it is to defend the people you love no matter what the cost or circumstances is. With all that being said I feel the game i recommended for those who are more mature and do not get scared easily. I may get hate for this but I was not found of the gay references at all especially if you do not want your kids to get any ideas. ![]() it shows nothing and Joel immediately tells her to throw it away. Their was no sex in this game at all, although their was a seen when Ellie stole a gay male pornographic magazine from the gay character Bill. Violence is pretty strong especially if your kid gets wheezy to the excessive blood shown in the finishes Joel does to protect Ellie. Throughout the game their is the uses of F**K, S**T, D**N, M**********R, Ba****D, Bi**H, D**K, and finally C**K (these were all the words I found). In the game you play as the main character Joel who is tasked to take Ellie (other main character) to the fireflies (a main faction who wants to find a cure for the virus). In my opinion its one of the best games out their for more mature children. The last of us part 1 remastered for the PS4 is a flawless game.
